Caterpillar Watch

While I was blogging about him, Ian came into the room and presented a small creature hanging from a plastic container lid and said, "Daddy!"

I looked at it, and recognized his pet caterpillar, which he got at the butterfly farm and has been watching intently as it has begun its metamorphosis.

I asked him what it was, and he yelped, "Chrysalis!"

This is a word I had encountered before, but didn't really know until it "clicked" as he answered my question. Already, his love for animals and nature has expanded his vocabulary beyond mine.
