Snow Realism at Such a Young Age

Daniel and I were playing pirates in the snow yesterday - the three to four feet of snow that have accumulated since the end of December - and I was lured into a false sense of security, because I saw him standing on top of the snow. I forgot that he is a short, fleet little pixie and I'm a chunky middle-aged guy, so of course, with each step in the snow, my boots crunched down several feet, and it took a gargantuan effort just to move several yards over to the piracy-victim.

Soon after that, he stood on a snow-bank (taller than me or him), and announced:

"This is my castle, and over there is yours, but you can't go to it, because you might sink in the snow."
