Ornithological Psychology in the Driveway
While Ian and I were waiting for his school bus this morning, we noticed a classic migratory flock of birds - definitely with a goose-like squawk - flying across the sky. I mimicked their call, squawking: "Which way is south? Which way is south?" Ian was amused.
But as I looked more closely at their trajectory, it seemed they were really going east, rather than south. But Ian quickly developed a pretty interesting hypothesis about why they were going more toward Spain (via the Atlantic) than their standard destination of Florida:
"Do you think maybe the leader of the pack couldn't think right because it's so cold today?"
