The Suit and Tie of Bad-Guy Excellence

Currently, Daniel is wearing some very fine dress pants, a long-sleeved ink button-down shirt, and a clip-on bow-tie. He shed his shorts and t-shirt, which is customary for New England in mid-July, particularly on a sweltering day such as today, in favor of this far more distinguished wardrobe. Why?...

In the car, on the way home from swimming lessons at the YMCA, Daniel asked me for permission to pretend to be a bad-guy, and I assented, in the hopes that fantasy could exhaust the impulse before it plays itself out in reality (desperate hopes...).

So Daniel proceeded to work out what a bad-guy would dress like:

"Daddy I think bad guys wear underwear. Do bad guys wear underwear?"

I indicated that I think they do.

"Like what color underwear do they wear?"

So he produced the pink dress-shirt on the coat-hanger to ask me if I though the joker would wear such a shirt. This was quickly followed by pants and the bow-tie.

Finally, he asked me, "Daddy, can we match by wearing a tie?"

So now I'm wearing a tie as well, although not a clip-on (I don't have a clip-on any more...), on top of my plaid blue and white Polo shirt.

Daniel believes he looks like the Joker, which he might. I look more like a dork with a tie that clashes with my office-casual wardrobe, but I'm very happy, if for no reason, because of the excellent company that chooses to hang out with me and coordinate our fashions.
