The Very Best Season of All

Yesterday, it snowed for the first time this year, and Daniel was almost instantaneously in full regalia, complete with snowsuit and batman knit hat.  By the time I got back from dropping Ian off at Pokemon League, there was a miniature snowman greeting all who enter, on the front porch.  Daniel is pleased with the house that we're renting - much smaller than the one we used to own in New Hampshire - because you can see the snow much better, being at closer proximity to the great outdoors from any point on the ground floor.  As Daniel pointed out, it feels more like a cottage. But the most moving point was, when the snow was still just falling in the yard, and there was a patch of green grass, holding out under the branches of a large pine tree, Daniel's reaction to the snowlessness of that stretch of ground was, "That's too bad."

Needless to say, he would be much comforted to see that now that part of the yard - like everything around it for many miles - is white and glistening.
