Reclaiming Childhood

Daniel poses as the James Dean of our household, but he constantly does things that undermine his own bravado.  Yesterday, Amy wrote out her cell. phone number and mine for him, writing "Mom" before her number and "Dad" before mine.  Daniel got out a pencil and added the diminutive suffixes to each name, so that they read "Mommy" and "Daddy."  Amy was surprised - and tickled - and called me at work, telling me about it.  And he explained the rationale to her very succinctly:  "I'm not a teenager yet."

Which is ironic, considering that Amy and I joke that he has been a teenager from birth.  Of course, sometimes we like to be proven wrong...
