Two Boys, Two Slumber Parties

Milestone of the Year:  On a single night, Daniel attends his first sleep-over, at his friend's house as part of a grand happy-ninth-birthday party, and Ian hosts a sleep-over of his own (also first time), with his friend, Jason. 

I dropped Daniel off at Domenic's house, and he quickly disappeared into, or somewhere beyond, the great green tent that the birthday boy's father had set up as part of a much more elaborate, enthusiastic effort.  Most, if not all of Daniel's friends were still within sight, but Daniel was gone before I even finished saying hi to Domenic's parents.

But Ian's gathering was appropriately quite different, considering the age and personality of the attendees...

You know that Ian is in excellent company when, as I go in to turn off the light and enforce a somewhat overdue bedtime curfew, the boys diligently gather up scraps of paper, scissors, crayons, colored pencils, and elaborate, beautiful paper robots, and Ian counts up the yield as he collects them:  "Droid 1, Droid 2, and Droid 3."

Ian, himself, held up some kind of artistic token and said, "This is to remind us of what a nice night we're having."

Any night involving lovingly-crafted paper droids has to be an excellent one!
