Remembering his anniversary ahead of time

The other day, in the car, Daniel asked me, rather abruptly, "Daddy, isn't it gonna be Ethan and my anniversary soon."

We went through the time-math and determined that, indeed, Daniel, as young as he is, has been friends with Ethan for nearly five years.

But what I really enjoyed was the notion of an "anniversary" to mark the anniversary of a couple of eight- or nine-year-old boys.
