The Tooth Fairy's Diligent Helper Strikes Again
So this is the quote of the day:
"I don't blame you for kicking my tooth out. I blame you for kicking me in the face."
This supreme nuance could only come from Ian, and it could only be directed at Daniel, and it's a formulation he made in the car this evening on the way back from Maine, in the same ride where Daniel's athletic coup helped yet another of Ian's baby teeth out of its stubborn holding pattern.
We're guessing that this is probably the third time that Daniel has helped Ian make room for his adult teeth. And this was especially helpful, for this particular tooth - I think a premolar in Ian's lower-left quadrant - wasn't really going anywhere on its own. Ian showed it to me last night, reporting that it had been loose for about a month, and it was one of those jagged wedges with a shape and life of its own.
Someone had to do something.
As usual, Daniel wasn't trying to be as effective as he actually was - he was just responding in his usual way to something Ian said or did. Impressively, the dental aerobics seem to have been performed in a sitting position.
Ian pointed out the tooth, carefully wrapped in what looks like a wax-paper sandwich bag, into a neat little parcel under his pillow. I can't imagine how much the tooth fairy gave him - he's usually pretty generous, I believe - but I think Ian can thank Daniel for enriching his carefully-tracked coffers yet again.
