The Unreformed Bestower of Vitamin Water

Mommy is a hippy, and Daddy can't keep up with the program.  Whenever Amy drives my car, I tend to be reminded as soon as I turn the ignition, the following morning, and "awaken" to the boisterous correctness of New Hampshire Public Radio.  The radio goes off very quickly, and the next time it goes back on, it goes to very different stations.

One thing I'm not entirely on top of, is the healthy diet thing.  Tonight, I picked up Daniel from baseball practice.  He complained bitterly about being thirsty, but luckily he though of a solution very quickly; we could pick up something for him to drink on the way home.  Daddy understands that soft drinks are bad, and heavy-duty ones are heavily bad - such as Coke and Sprite, not to mention Mountain Dew.  So I dutifully pushed him in the direction of Vitamin Water.  Vitamin Water has zero calories, and if brand names are to be taken at face value, which of course they are, they also have vitamins.  I got a bottle for Madeleine and Ian as well, but it turned out that this is but another realm where Daddy doesn't get it.

Ian said, "Thank you, I guess," and drank about a fifth of the bottle.  Eventually, he explained The Problem to me:, particularly in terms off why Mommy would not approve:

"Um, she doesn't let us have 'Zero' things, I think partially because they have sweeteners and partially because they taste bad."
