What good is spring if you don't do something about it?
The advent of the vernal equinox was not lost on Young Daniel, and he wanted to celebrate almost as soon as he woke up.
This morning, I went into his bedroom and we began the daily ritual where I pick out clothes for him and push the getting-dressed agenda, and then he jumps out of bed and eagerly picks a different wardrobe. But today, there was a bit of dialog in the routine. Just as I was about to get the ball rolling, he stopped me:
Daniel: Wait a minute - is it spring?
Me: Yes - the first day of spring is today or tomorrow.
Daniel: Then I wanna wear short sleeves.
I had to break the news to him the first day of "Spring" is largely just a technicality in New Hampshire. We'll have winter for some time now, sporadically, until New England decides to throw in the towel for the year, which usually happens sometime in mid- to late-April.
