Pokemon: Vastly More Important Than Sleep

This morning, the first thing Ian did was to explain to me how he's expanding my assignment for our current Pokemon course.  He already has given me a three-page set of questions, along with the text which hopefully contains all the answers.  Now he also wants me to go online and listent to all the existing Pokemon theme songs (there are several, from over the years) and perform some specific intellectual task around them.  I think I'm supposed to determine which melodic pattern persists across all of them - perhaps including the Japanese ones.  He then wants me to listen to a Pokemon rap written by the great authority on Pokemon Studies, Tamashi Hiroku, a girl who, in spite of her classic land-of-the-rising-sun name actually talks like any young lady you might find frequenting the malls of Orange County.  Ian likes these raps overall, but he has one criticism/recommendation.  I don't remember the entire substance of this discourse, for I was still supine when we had it, although I had cheerfully gotten up to start his happy snow day, with school officially closed.
