A Misfortune That Nobody Really Understands

Amy and the kids visited her friend's house yesterday, and the hosts have an even larger menagerie than we do, including ferrets.  In the wake of his adventures with the ferrets yesterday, Ian asked me this spontaneous question this morning, charged with a combination of annoyance and bewilderment:

"Dad, how did Mom get talked out of buying a ferret?!"
