Barbie Home Cinema, And Its Dissenters

I  was home alone with Madeleine today while the boys went sledding at their friends' house, but I wouldn't let her watch her shows, because I thought we should have more quality time on our last day of vacation.  She was very unhappy, because she had watched Daniel's awful alien movie until just before the boys left, and I didn't allow her the proper compensation of a few hours of Barbie.

But it turns out that Daniel is much nicer, and more just, than Daddy.  At this moment, he is letting her watch her Barbie shows, and has even been watching it with her somewhat.

But it's never truly quiet on the Western Front.  With Daniel in cooperative mode, of course it is Ian who is flabbergasted by this pink, high-pitched entertainment filling up the screen in the family room.  He said she could have watched her show while he was out (untrue, as cited above).  He wasn't happy that Daniel was watching a girl-show. But this was the best criticism of the day -  he came over to me and made the following observation:

"Dad, [whispering] I don't think it could get more crazy than dolls with dolls."

Yes, Barbie has dolls.  And who can blame her?  Everyone in the audience already appreciates the value of a comprehensive doll collection.
