Box Office Bust, with an Articulate Critique

I made the mistake of suggesting that the young'uns watch a movie tonight, rather than the umpteenth repeat episode of some Disney drivel along the lines of "Good Luck Kickin It With A Blog."  The result was a two-cinema home movie-house, with Daniel watching some inane-looking animation on Amy's computer in the living room while Amy watches Julia Roberts playing herself, as she does in all films, but trying to play Snow White's Evil Queen in some cheesy remake of the age-old tale, and Madeleine starting out in the Girls' Camp and eventually defecting to the Small Children's Camp.  Needless to say, Ian was displeased with the entire arrangement, not to mention the options available to him, and was agitating for me to let him watch some third thing on my computer, which violates any number of principles, starting with the Lone Video Avoidance one.  But he articulated his position on the admittedly unsavory viewings available to him, more or less as follows:

"Dad, Daniel and Madeleine are watching a TV show that I find rather repetitive, and Momfor two reasons both involving age - number one that it's scary, and number two that it's boring for me, at least for now."

Well stated, but I didn't break the news to him that Julia Roberts movies will always be boring to him.  In the interim, he has decided to continue reading Scott Adams' "The Way of the Weasel' instead - he started it this morning and is two thirds of the way through the book already, proving that he inherited my brother's bookworm genes, rather than my chaotically extreme in-the-moment genes, which Daniel, instead, inherited.

But The Way of The Weasel is an excellent competitor to the two Netflix options showing in our two competing theaters.  So I think Ian's doing pretty well, as discontented as he may feel at the moment.
