Daddy, the Un-Mrs.-Skidmore

We often have no idea what our kids actually think about us, but every now and then some kind of signal comes through.  A few nights ago, in the car on the way home from Russian Math, Daniel gave me one of the highest compliments I can imagine, delivered in a delightfully off-the-cuff way. The boys and I were having an intellectual conversation about the various sitcoms on the Disney Channel - who likes which ones, who does what on the shows, etc. - and at one point, they were talking about Mrs. Skidmore, the evil principal of the talented-and-gifted high school attended by the children on Ant Farm.  Suddenly, he had this reflection:

"She's the exact opposite of you, Daddy.  She hates kids!"

Sometimes it's very gratifying to be unlike the people on your children's favorite TV shows.
