Tonight, Ian was criticizing some effort undertaken by the Disney Channel which he found to be random association dressed up as avant garde creative work (I didn't pick up exactly what program he had in mind)...  He concluded his assessment with the following guiding principle:

"Great art is just a good depiction of something - it isn't a metaphor, or anything."
