Vocabulary challenges with a Dad from a previous century

Yesterday, I discovered that there are three categories from my childhood that the boys couldn't quite recognize:

1.  I told Daniel my father got in trouble in school as a lad for being a wise guy on a test he was taking.  Daniel asked, "Do you mean he was giving everybody answers?"

2.  I mentioned G.I. Joe to the boys.  One of them had heard some reference to him, and the other had no idea who I had in mind.

3.  I mentioned the Flintstones, and Ian said something like "Oh yeah Daniel - remember that old cave movie we used to watch?"
