High-Priority Summit at Bath

Last night, I heard Ian summoning me upstairs, as is his wont - to call me from the other end of the house for whatever is on his mind or wish-list.  I figured out that he was in the bathtub, so I went in to talk with him.

Ian began:  "I think if I could bring any animal back, it would be Blackout."

Then he asked me, "Do you think any of the baby gerbils will ever love me as much as he did?"

I told him I thought that they would.  Ian speculated that Peaches Junior might come to love him as much as Blackout did.  Then we talked about how wonderful the gerbils are, and especially how wonderful Blackout was.

And this discussion of gerbils past and present, and of Blackout in particular, was the purpose of my invitation to drop all other, far more trivial, activity and come join him the room to which circumstances had briefly confined him.
