Prodigy Plus

The boys are hopelessly clever.

Today, Daniel urged me outside to show me something.  Showing me something usually means throwing something at me, or climbing onto my back like a little monkey, or some similar ruse.  But this one was more elaborate.

As he "showed" me some weed or flower or tree or whatever, Ian opened the window from the second floor, and attempted to drop molotov water balloons onto my head - sealed, plastic food storage bags filled nearly to capacity with water.  Luckily, their coordination was off, but not by much.

Soon Daniel had me out on the back deck - this time to show me yet another things, and this turned out to be somewhat more pedestrian quasi-water-balloons - this time plastic bags from the grocery store, filled with water and tied.  He asked me if I had ever thrown such fearsome bags in my own youth.  I told him that, as a boy, I liked water balloons, but I wasn't clever enough to think of filling a plastic bag with water (not to mention that we had silly brown paper bags back then).  Daniel instantly made sense of my admitted cleverness deficit, compared to him:

"So I'm like a version of you, only smarter?"

I'm afraid so...
