Stunning Sleight of Hand

Last night, Daniel was performing amazing magic tricks with a deck of cards.

Daniel:  Pick any card.

[I picked a card.]

Daniel:  Which card do you have?

Me:  The Queen of Clubs.

Daniel:  Put it back in the deck.  [He had me put it in, with all the cards face-up, as he watched.  Then he turned the deck upside down, and took each card from the top, examined it, and discarded several.  Then he handed me a card, after looking at it:]

Daniel:  Is this your card?

To my astonishment, it was precisely the Queen of Clubs.
