Beyond The Ickiness of Reality

To the casual observer, it might appear that Ian is spending an inordinate amount of time in a fantasy world focused around Pokemon.  He discusses them with me much of the day and night.  He makes me late for work, at times, telling me about them.  He lectures me out of slumber, in vibrating waves of alternative consciousness, with details about evolution from one form of Pokemon to another, of the water  energy type.  Talk and talk and more talk.  It reminds me very much of techies.

And then there are the video games.  Pokemon Tower Defense, leading the pack...  I try to limit Ian's video game time, because of this paranoid idea that maybe he's spending too much consciousness on it.

But tonight the record was set straight.  Ian told me that the only reason that he spends so much time on Pokemon video games, is because that's what he'd like to do in real life - to be a Pokemon trainer - and the video games are the closest that he can get.

I'm so relieved!
