"Je me souviens," as the Quebec license plate tells us

It turns out that Ian has a "damp" but palpable memory of his youth, at the tender age of approximately two:


Amy was telling Ian this evening about how when Baby Ian first met Uncle Joseph, he wasn't interested in him, until Uncle Joseph started speaking Russian to him (which commanded Ian's attention, much the way it did with other people), Amy continued, "because Daddy used to speak Russian to you when you were in my belly."

Ian remembered this:

"I damply remember me and Daddy going over to you in your room to say good night to you and Daniel, who was in your belly."
