Safety Equipment for Indoor Sports

The boys are not bashful about their new cabin-fever-driven sport of Indoor Scootering.  In fact, I discovered that the fact that my big winter jacket was making the sport more difficult, by being absent fromits usual place, hanging from a hook in the corner at the end of the hall beyond the kitchen.  For this, it turns out, was the place where Ian likes to stage crash-landings of his scooter against the wall, and my jacket was serving as a gentle buffer between the bescootered Ian and the wall that he likes to use as his crashing spot.  But in his usual diligence, he asked me to replace the jacket, so that he could resume crashing into the wall without any concern about discomfort, or about the very remote prospect that he or his scooter might somehow damage the wall itself:

"Dad, if you're not going outside, could you put jacket over there?  Usually we trust it as a landing-spot."
