12/12/12

Earlier this week, Ian was excited about the approach of that magical date, December 12, 2012, or 12/12/12.  (Or 12.12.12 in metric.)  In fact, I took a picture at his request:  he wanted me to take a picture of a clock on 12/12/12 at 12:12:12 (yes - including 12 seconds past the minute of 12:12).

But then he got another idea:  we could start a family tradition, and pass on the mission from one generation to the next, that whoever is around for March 3, 3003 should take a similar picture at 3:03:03.  Roughly a millenium of parents passing solemn, detailed instructions to their children, to continue to pass the same instructions to their own offspring, so that when that wondrous date should dawn upon the family, someone can take a second picture to complement the one that I took on Wednesday.  And apparently Ian is picturing a single person inheriting that role - the one who's around at that time.

So if any of you progeny are out there reading this...
