Golfers Par Excellence

Tonight, Ian, Madeleine, Daniel James and I all played golf.  I figure it's a game that will help the young 'uns make their way in the world.

Miniature golf is much better than "real" golf, because of all the interesting props.  Madeleine asked for help, but eventually got a handle on the task of hitting the little red ball around.  Ian played for awhile, but because our hotel has a gigantic asset that our house doesn't - television, and cable, no less - he was quickly off to his 7:30 engagement with The Disney Channel.  But Daniel was the true athlete.  He played three rounds, to my two-and-a-half.  He hit the ball much as a field hockey player would, with great speed and determination.

As we walked off the course, across the parking lot to return our putters, a few different people were impressed with the picture.  A lady leaving the hotel with her husband asked us who won.  I said Daniel won, which I'm sure is true.  But since we have two Daniels, but only one Daniel James, I could have been considerably more specific, as Daniel pointed out:

"You should have said 'Daniel James,' because we're both Daniels."

Of course, Daniel is correct.  But I think people still understood that the six year old with hair was the Daniel I had in mind, rather than the speaker himself...
