Oh, so very close...

We were swimming at York Beach in Maine this past weekend, and beyond the rocks, on a hill overlooking the beach, there was a big, beautiful old-fashioned hotel, and next to the hotel was a sloping field, and in the middle of the field, there were neat rows of fancy folding chairs, and in front of the set was a white arch, obviously set up for some ceremonial purpose, and men were walking around in tuxedos, and women in fancy dresses...  It seemed like such a classic vignette, I thought it might provide a useful lesson for Daniel, in the way that the rites of passage in people's lives can brush up right against our visit to the beach, so I pointed up toward the formalities on the hill, and asked him, "Daniel - what do you think is going on up there on that hill?"

Daniel took a look at the scene, gave it some thought, and ventured a very thoughtful guess:

"Uh, I think maybe they're having a funeral?"
