It's Amazing How Two People Can React So Very Differently...

This evening, the boys were next to each other in the driveway - Ian standing and Daniel on his bike - and suddenly Ian scooped up a very solid little spider, the way a pet-rodent-aficionado would spontaneously pick up a gerbil in the pet store, and let it run around his hands and arms, as you would any small, endearing creature.   After Ian announced his acquisiton, Daniel, who had been at the same spot at the same moment, casually announced, with a laugh:

"I was trying to crush it."
