Upholding Victims' Rights

The other day, I was discussing Daniel's behavior with him.   I think the question was the routine one, where I ask him why he got a time-out.  In any case, he gave an answer that made me see that I had become part of the problem:

"Because I pushed Madeleine, because I was trying to protect myself, and Mommy said I could protect myself."
