Talk Of Love
This evening, in the car, Ian asked me why so many songs are about love. I presumed that by "songs," he meant "rock" songs (or pop songs), and I said that rock tends to appeal to young people. Daniel volunteered that he likes it. I continued with my own far-out, wildly speculative theory, that the reason that so many rock songs are about love is that young people are just discovering love, and it's such an exciting discovery, that they want to hear about it in their music.
At that point, Daniel sobered up on the matter: "I think it's annoying and embarrassing."
But Ian had a different perspective. It turns out that Ian has already discovered love - as of Kindergarten or First Grade, by tonight's reckoning, and he thinks it's nice, even though it's awkward.
