Gerbil Inventory
Ian was not pleased, this evening, to discover that the American Gerbil Society's annual conference was this past weekend, on the very same day we were in New York for Cousin Caleb's Baptism. Daniel, however, noted that "Blackout lived longer than the gerbil festival" - in other words, he survived the year, which is no small accomplishment, especially in light of this evening's visit by Madeleine, who, when I discovered the two, was holding him in her little fist like so much play-dough. Some panicked yelling ensued, followed by prolonged sniffling and the observation, "Daddy, I don't like it when you yell at me."
In any case, Ian has visions for a new generation of gerbils, and actually believes this is an entitlement based on some promise made by Amy, which probably really did occur, knowing her. As he phrased the current state of affairs:
"Mommy owes us girl-gerbils."
