Daddy of the Black Forests of Germany

As I sometimes subtly hint, Daniel has a refined talent for coining and delivering the most devastating statements imaginable - especially when he doesn't get what he wants.

The other night, Daniel was upset at me for some miniscule infraction - I don't even remember what now, but I think it was just some episode of not-giving-Daniel-what-he wants, and Daniel resorted to Hans Christian Andersen to draw me into an enduring image from children's lore:

"This is just like Hansel and Gretel except for the Daddy doesn't love the kid."

Yes, he meant it; the only difference between me and the villainesse of that time-honored masterpiece is gender.
