Raising Daddy

This morning is my official Christmas holiday, in terms of the work schedule, since Christmas itself fell on a Sunday - kind of an extra-credit bonus, if you will. So this morning Daniel woke me up. Many times.

I got up with him initially around 8:45, but then Ian got up, nobody wanted Rice Chex, and the two got swept up into their own activities, so I quietly climbed back up to bed. (I had taken antihistamines an hour or two before, so I was quite ready to sleep some more...) Daniel paid mor visits, and finally, he became the 99%, occupying Bedroom. He would talk, urge me to get up, jump on me, ask me questions about Harry Houdini (today, he was especially curious about Houdini's facial hair, which I think was non-existent), and then return to other elements of the same process, more-or-less cyclically. Part of the virtuous circle involved taking a flying jump onto my stomach, landing on both shins. I think that's what brought Houdini to mind. Amy and I have already warned him several times (although not this morning) about the tragic unexpected punch that Houdini received, in the context of Daniel's parallel surprise manoeuvres. But for some inexplicable interest, Daniel developed an entirely separate interest in Houdini "The Man".

In any case, I eventually succumbed to awakeness, and as Daniel was leading me down the stairs and into a Bright New Day, he definitely put first things first:

"Okay, now let's first get something to eat."
