Priorities

This evening, I came home as Amy was about to read the children their bed-time story. However, once Daniel realized I was home, he followed me out of the master-bedroom, where the reading was about to commence, and started talking to me in the kitchen as I heated up supper.

I didn't want him to miss story-time, but when I asked him, "Don't you want to hear the bed-time story?" he answered, "No, that's okay. I'd rather spend my time with you."

And what was most moving about it was that it was completely unrehearsed and spontaneous. I'm quite sure he wasn't trying to score brownie-points; he was just saying what he meant.
