Beyond The Self

Daniel showed me a long, thin, transparent, light-colored plastic candy-cane, with a long, thin ribbon wrapped around it many times over, in a not-particularly-fancy pattern. Apparently he added this final detail himself. He told me it was a Christmas present for his (female) bus driver.

I showed a bit of surprise, along with the proper appreciation for such a thoughtful gift - which, of course, it is, coming from such a pure soul. Then Daniel added an extra detail, and a rather colorful one - about how this gift had become designated for his driver:

"I got it for me, but then I found out that you're not disposta give presents to yourself for Christmas, so I got it for her."
