Navigating past the treacherous pitfalls of the Registered Trademark

Ian makes his own Pokemon cards, but he has reently discovered the limitations of the registered trademark. He took note to the "TM" next to the Pokemon logo, asked what it was about, and applied the ramifications of this legal condition to his own creative work.

Ian is apparently escaping the trademark rights of the "Pokemon" brand by rolling out his own, entirely distinct product line: "Pokemon2"

I played a rather extensive round of Pokemon2 with Ian today, and, in spite of my steady winning-streak in battles, where my "100-million-lives" card beat out his several-thousand-lives cards (it's all a game of subtraction, apparently), he ultimately beat me by rolling out the trump card - one of a kind: a Pokemon2 card with 90 quintillion lives. Somehow he ended up with this supreme trump-card... No other card came close, so of course Ian won.

Pokemon2 is a much higher-stakes game than Pokemon-of-Olde.
