Loving the Homeland, Perishing Freedom

Ian acquired a new song in school today - apparently a very pious ditty, along the lines of "I Defend the American Borders," the theme-song of "Wag the Dog", with a chorus of:

If you love your country

- I love my country

If you cherish freedom

- I cherish freedom

If you love your country, thank a vet.

But he didn't quite get the words right, and was very sweetly crooning, in his high-pitched Vienna Boys' Choir tone, as he walked around the kitchen (completely in earnest):

...If you perish freedom

- I perish freedom...
