Parisian Fun
As we stopped a traffic light in Boston today, Daniel remarked:
"That reminds me of Paris."
Once I understood that he was talking about the traffic lights themselves, I asked, naively, "Why Paris?"
The obvious answer: "Because there might be some traffic lights that are like that at Paris."
This evening, he asked me whether I thought traffic lights were fun - I think that was the word. I said yes (lying as always), but told the truthful story that, when his grandmother was young, and the first traffic light was put up in her town, she and her friends would go watch it, just for the fun of it.
At that point, Daniel clarified that traffic lights, for him, are only fun when he's in the car; they're not fun when he's outside of the car.
I have to admit, I feel the same way: when you're driving, there's nothing more fun than a traffic light.
