Casting Aside the Shackles of Time

Daniel lives wonderfully aloof from the realm of time. He's always confusing days, months, and years, and minutes, for him, are seconds. It's like if he asks when Christmas will come, and you say, "Not for a long time?" he'll venture a guess along the lines of "Like maybe 20 years?"

Of course, this has many positive manifestations. Sometime in the past month, he took a guess at my age, and arrived at 20. I love that boy. Nobody has made that assumption at the grocery counter, when I have purchased my occasional trusty box of wine, for a couple of years now. Back when they did ask for ID, I would routinely thank them.

But the best chronology question was issued today:

"How old were you when you were a boy?"

[Ummm... Nine.]
