The Shaggy Roommate

Ian positively dotes on his crazy little shaggy white-haired dog, Golden. At this moment, the two are sleeping happily up in Ian's upper-bunk. When Ian first sees him, he strokes him and talks to him in sweet, high-pitched, eager little sentences. He sometimes talks about the two of them as best friends.

A couple of nights ago, Golden was eager to get up and join Ruthie, his fellow canine, who was probably in the Master Bed at that moment, and he started pawing the mattress in some kind of anxious excitement. As Ian let him go off to find Ruthie, he told me, "I just want him to be happy."
