Children from the Age of Technology Probe an Artifact of Yore

Daniel had apparently been scavenging in the garage, and was lugging a large mechanism into the house, and asked me to help him with "this".

I asked, "What's 'this'?"

He clarified: "This."

I asked again, "What's this?"

Same answer.

Finally, I looked, and discovered that "this" was an electric type writer he had found, and he was carrying it into the house. Apparently, "type writer" is not part of the vocabulary of 21st-century kindergarteners.

So I carried "this" into the house for him, and set it on a kiddie-table in the family room. As soon as Ian saw it, he got all excited:

"Oooo - can I get on that?"

Yes, we "get on" typewriters, just as we would get on a laptop, an iPad, a smartphone, a website.
