Shades of Distinction

Daniel, this past summer, would sometimes draw/color his trademark smiling sunshine for grown-ups and children, such as Madeleine. But it turned out that there were male and female suns, and the singular distinction between the sexes, among smiling solar beings, was that the "boy" suns wear sunglasses and the "girl" suns don't.

(Of course, he made a "girl sun" for Madeleine.)
