A River Runs Through Him
Ian asserted that he only cries when he watches Benji and Herbie movies, but of course, this is not true. (I suspect Ian cries for most movies; the apple don't fall far from the she-tree...) But tonight, watching "The Prince of Egypt," Ian said that he always cries at the point in the movie when Moses's mother leaves him in the bullrushes to save his life. (This, too, was the "only" movie that makes him cry.)
And by the time the basket bearing Baby Moses hit the edge of the Nile, Ian was sniffling vigorously.
I don't normally cry for movies, but watching this one made me tear up as well, with a sensitive seven-year-old crying for a vulnerable baby, Ian's own ancient forebear.
