Musical Inventory
Daniel put on a CD, in the next room, that started with a "Let's go to the zoo" song (not the "Zoo-Zoo-Zoo" one that everyone knows). What impressed me about the song was that it was in classic African three part harmony, obviously an imitation of the Zulu or Xhosa choral tradition, and, in spite of being a song about going to the zoo (or because of that, depending on how old you are), it was an excellent song. So I called Daniel over and asked him what CD he had put on.
He wasn't sure what the name of it was, "but it's from the library and we had it for a long time, so I think we should put it back."
Also, he offered to find out more about the music, on the condition that I step away from my addictive life-support system:
"Daddy, why don't you stop working on the computer and I'll go back to all of them."
