Born Free

Ian found a toad on the lawn today, and took great delight in handling him, putting him in a small puddle of water from the hose, and watching him "swim" approximately three inches. He went through the standard conflict of domestication-versus-liberation, and came to the standard, noble conclusion that he would let the creature free, that it might live longer in the wilds. Within seconds of freeing the toad, he announced:

"Daddy, I think I might let him go. But I'll really miss him."
