Managing Dental Hygiene

Tonight, Daniel asked for guidance in a way that showed a giant-step forward in self-discipline:

"Daddy, I think when you brush my teeth, you should brush them as you were, because I bited the hard candy."

The "as you were" refers to last night, or the night before, when I brushed his teeth more thoroughly than usual, because he had just eaten a lollipop. In other words, this is Daniel acknowledging that his teeth are more vulnerable to decay than usual, due to tonight's lollipops, and accordingly asking for similar attention-to-detail in tonight's brushing.

I think our little boy might be growing up... but probably not.
