The People Denuded Will Never Be Defeated

Madeleine is a nudist - a naturist, technically, because she likes being in the great outdoors (also the great indoors) without the hindrance of artificial coverings, and she loves skinny-dipping. Skinny-dipping, in her case, involves a pink kiddy-pool roughly six feet in diameter, and six inches deep. Unlike most publicly-recognized nudists, however, the last article of "clothing" that she tears off is always a diaper. Tonight - yes, technically this evening, after supper - Madeleine staged such an event - which began with her turning on the hose, turning the kiddy-pool rightside-up, and starting to fill... And tonight, the boys decided to follow along on the naturist outing, except that they wore bathing suits - two-piece bathing suits, in fact. And eventually they wore superhero capes as well - Daniel's initial fashion statement, which Ian improved on by donning the ceremonial Batman mask. When I finally succumbed to The Agenda, by not telling them to turn off the hose anymore, I said, "If we're going to have public nudity, we'd better have it in the back yard," and I proceeded to dragl the kiddy-pool out to the back yard.

In any case, apparently Daniel believes either that swimming brings people together, or that nudity is a unifying condition, because he then told me, basically:

"Well Mommy lets us have public unity in the front yard."

Public unity is good anywhere. But we have to be careful about what unity means to the culture around us.
