On the Marital Life of Geese

While the children and I were swimming, as it were, in the pond at the state park the other day, geese would occasionally materialize, either waddling on the shore or swimming toward us in the water. At one point, a pair of geese had come pretty close to us, and Ian was speculating about their marital status:

"Daddy, do you think those two are married?"
