Indispensible Hardware

All three of our children feel the need to be carried around from time to time, and I would be the last one to deny them this birthright. I have a theory that any need a person feels that they have, to be infantalized, is probably much better indulged at a young aged than suppressed and derided, only to come back with a vengeance at some much later age, when a person should be in college or in a career, etc. Plus, we're all children on some level...

In any case, Ian went on strike, at the lowest landing of the staircase this evening, and insisted on being carried upstairs for bed. But I had my laptop in my other hand, so I scooped him up with my right arm, which was free, and carried him over my shoulder, at which point he observed - probably quite insightfully:

"I'm your third computer, that carries information about your child."
