Chicken Nugget Crisis

Ian officially didn't like tonight's dinner, although once he got started, he had two plates of it. However, in the interim, he had done some lobbying with Mommy, who told him that if he didn't like supper, Daddy could heat him up some chicken nuggets. [All kinds of unilateral deals get worked out like this, with the "other" party being updated on a need-to-know basis...] He ate quite heartily, as implied above, but still - probably because he likes chicken nuggets so much - he invoked the "I actually didn't like supper after all" clause, quite ex post facto, and only then informed me of his secret contingency agreement with Mommy, implying that I should now heat him up some chicken nuggets.

The main problem with that proposition, is that the chicken nuggets are both frozen and uncooked, and take 40 minutes to prepare - not a good prospect at bedtime, so Mommy and I actually had a little summit, and announced that he couldn't have them after all. At that point, he asserted that he and Daniel were hungry all the way home from the playground, and begged Daddy to stop and get something, but Daddy didn't. [Beautiful logic: after supper, to say, "But I was hungry before supper now, so surely I'm due some compensation now for previous pain-and-suffering.]

Mommy listed the non-chicken-nugget items he could have, and he went downstairs and sulked. Unfortunately, what with all this sulking, plus his preoccupation with a new, more sophisticated tic-tac-toe board game that my mother brought him today, he apparently forgot not only the list of substandard options, but also his tentative selection, so he made the following request:

"Daddy, can you go ask Mommy what I said I would like to eat?"
